Yard Work

Kevin & I have spent the last few weekends working in the yard. I've been cleaning out the garden and planting spring flowers. Kevin has been preparing the back corner of our lot (formerly thick brush) for new sod, a sprinkler system, and a treehouse for the boys. He's worked incredibly hard hauling fallen tree branches (he even got poison ivy!), burning the brush pile, and tilling the soil. The first picture is of the burn pile at its peak. It's not as bad as it looks! - We had just gotten a heavy rain, and Kevin was standing nearby with a water hose to keep the fire under control. After the fire died down some, Carter came out and wanted to help. He put on his firefighter costume (his idea!), and rode up in his gator to "the emergency". - Kevin was standing just behind him as I snapped his picture. He felt like such a big boy and was very proud that Daddy had let him help! The next picture is of Kevin tilling the soil with the tiller we rented from Home Depot (You can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy! ;-). Finally, Carter wanted his picture helping me dig in the garden - his shirt says, "I dig dirt". Pretty appropriate for the occassion!

Carter looks incredibly old in this picture! I'm sure your yard is going to be beautiful...just in time for the spring and summer days outside.
