Too Smart for School

This morning as we drove to the grocery store, another driver started to drift into my lane, so I laid my hand over the horn in case she started to come over further. Carter said, "Why did you almost honk the horn, Mommy?" I told him why, and he said, "That would be bad if they hit us. Their car would get smashed. And then the tow truck would have to come. And the ambulance, too. And they would get a ticket. " How does a 3 year old know so much about such things? I told him, "You're right, Carter. You're very smart." He responded, "I AM very smart. I don't even need to go to school."

Great Girlfiriends

I have such wonderful friends. I am truly grateful for the women that God has blessed my life with. We have so much fun together; we love to laugh. We share our hearts, our fears, our hopes and dreams. It's such a blessing to have relationships that go beyond the surface. I know I can call on these ladies when I need them, and they can depend on me, too. I love you, girls!

Zoo Trip

Today our Mommy & Me group went to the zoo. When I've taken the boys in the past, Bryson was too little to really notice the animals. This time was lots of fun, though, because he really enjoyed them for the first time. He called some of them by their names (monkeys, rhinos, fish) and even made monkey sounds at the chimpanzees. The rest of the animals (cheetahs, sea lions, bison, giraffes, zebras, ...) he just called kitty. :-) The highlight of the trip for Carter was riding the tram, and of course, the playground is always a hit!

Chuck E. Cheese

Kevin went to a conference in Snow Bird, UT this weekend. We missed him, but we tried to make the best of a weekend without him by doing lots of fun stuff. On Saturday morning, we went to Chuck E. Cheese. Both of the boys love it there, and as always, we had a great time! Carter had his picture taken with Chuck. :-)

Outside!

Yesterday was the only warm day in the midst of many cold ones. We took advantage and spent the entire afternoon playing outside. We played in our yard for a while then walked to the neighborhood park. Bryson insisted on wearing his PJ pants, even to the park. Here's a fun picture of him mowing in the outfit he picked for himself. I love this picture of Carter, too. He's clapping because I had just told him we were having lasagna for dinner (his favorite!).

Sock Hands

Every time I do laundry, Carter grabs 2 white socks and puts them on his hands. He calls them "sock hands", and he wears them for a considerable time. On this day, he decided to take it a step further and wear "sock ears", too.

Paw-Paw

Check out this video of Bryson. He found a tiny little "Paw-Paw" right here at home!

More Fun at the Library

I brought my camera to the library this morning to capture our usual Tuesday morning routine. The boys love going there for play and story time. Today Carter was picked to be a "helper" in the story. He played the part of the kitty cat. (Bryson was not a helper today, but he wanted to be part of the action. He stood right there by Carter's side the whole time.) At the end of story time, the teacher blows bubbles and the kids run around trying to catch them. Before we leave, Carter likes to play Thomas on the computer while Bryson plays with the toys in the toddler's area. Tuesdays are always fun!

A Real Pirate!

Some of you may remember the commercial that shows kids saying all sorts of things that their parents wished they wouldn't. I think it was for granola bars -- the parents would just stuff a granola bar into their kid's mouth when they started to say something embarrassing. Anyway, when the commercial aired, I didn't have kids yet and I thought it was really funny. Now though, I can totally relate. Tonight Kevin was called into the hospital to see a patient, and since it would be a quick visit, we all came along. The boys and I were waiting in the outpatient lobby when a man with an eyepatch walked by. Carter very clearly shouted, "MOMMY, A PIRATE!" I only wish I had a granola bar to stuff in his mouth at that moment!

Valentines Party!

Today our Mommy & Me group had a Valentines Day celebration. I love this group of ladies and their kids. They are my closest friends, and I am so thankful for them!
It was so fun to hang out with all the moms and to watch the kids play together. Everyone had a great time. The kids played while the mommies chatted, then we all shared a big yummy lunch. The "big kids" decorated buckets to put their Valentines in, then posed for pictures. This was the first time we've been able to get them all to pose together. In the past, they've been too young to cooperate very well. Carter was so excited to give and to get Valentines (he thinks it's mail!). The first picture shows Carter playing in his friend Zane's "outer space box". The others are of Carter with his big friends. What a blast!

Weekend Fun

We had lots of fun this weekend. The whole family spent a lot of time playing together at home. I'm including pictures of Carter with Daddy and Bryson with his block tower. Saturday was gorgeous, so we made time to go the park (twice, in fact!). I managed to snap a few pictures there, too.

TA-DA!

Bryson is so funny. Whenever he does something he feels is impressive, he says "Ta-Daaa!" He'll climb up onto a chair all by himself or finish his plate at dinner, then declare "Ta-Daaa!"

Wheee!!!

Our Mommy & Me group went to a really fun indoor playplace today. The boys had a great time playing in the ball pit and racing down the giant slides with their friends! Wheee!!! :-)

Peek-A-Boo Book

Here are some silly pictures of Bryson & Carter playing with the Peek-A-Book they got for Christmas! :-)

DADDY!!!

The boys were so excited to see Daddy when he got back from his trip to Washington, D.C. We beat Daddy back to the house when we traveled back home from our trip this weekend, and Bryson was so disappointed that Daddy wasn't here when we came in. He grabbed Kevin's shoes and carried them all over the house saying "Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!" He didn't even want to take a bath because he couldn't bring Daddy's shoes into the tub. Kevin was here when the boys woke up this morning, and they couldn't have been happier. Daddy at last!!!

Family Fun

The boys and I went to visit family this weekend. We spent time with Mimi, PopPop, & Chester (the kitty). Bryson insisted on calling Chester "Puppy!" all weekend, and actually had Mimi & Carter saying it, too. We had a great time relaxing, playing, and eating yummy food with Mimi & PopPop.

We had time to play at Nana & PawPaw's house, too. The cousins, Kaelin & Logan, came to play with us there. The kids all had a wonderful time riding the tractor & the gator, visiting with the animals, and playing with all the toys at Nana's house. They always have such a wonderful time whenever they get together; I wish they could do it more often! The pictures here are: Carter & PawPaw with the tractor, Bryson & me riding the gator, Kaelin, and Logan.
