RC planes & turkeys
Ready for take-off
The turkey is a little hard to see (waaaay in the back)
For Kevin's birthday last month, we bought him an RC plane (a little strange for a 33 year old, but that's what he wanted!). He flew them when he was little, and it's something he's been talking about doing with our boys for a few years now. Last week, we took it to a nearby park and we flew it all around for about an hour. The boys loved it (all 3 of them)! :-)
Oh, and just on a random note, we saw a turkey in our backyard last week. I love living where we do! You never know what's going to come visiting from across the creek...
Last Day of School :-) :-(
Carter with his teachers on the last day of pre-k
Bryson with his teachers on his last day at MDO
Wow!!! I can't believe Carter's first year of school is already over! It's such a cliche' but it REALLY flew by! I'm so excited to have the summer off to spend with the boys - we can't wait for all the swimming, splash pads, trips to the lake, vacations, and just hanging out that we plan to do! Still, it was hard to say goodbye to his teacher and his friends for the summer. I panic a little when I think about how quickly the next 13 years will go by and he'll be off to college and getting married. I might be getting a little ahead of myself (after all, it's just pre-k!), but I really feel like he's growing up so fast. I can't say it enough - I'm soooo proud of him!
I'm so proud of BOTH of them! Bryson will be starting pre-k next year, and he's so excited. I'm praying he'll love it as much as he thinks he will. :-) He was glad to finish up at MDO; he can hardly wait for "big boy school" next year!!! I'm pretty sure he's expecting to be in Carter's class next year; I hope that's not going to be a big disappointment. :-o
Concert

Me & Carter <3
Also in that last week, Carter's school had a concert featuring a fun children's musician, Steven Fite. I was able to join Carter and his class for the event, and it was really fun. He sang lots of great cowboy songs, and it was so good to spend that time with Carter at his school. We even bought the CD at the end of the concert, and we have listened to it about 100 times since!
Carter's Pre-K Graduation
At the library

Bryson with his yummy cookie
The week before school ended for the summer, Carter's class went on a walking field trip to the library and to the park to have a little graduation ceremony. Bryson and I went along with the class to the library, where they told us all about the summer reading program and took us on a tour. After the library, we walked over to the city park and met up with Daddy for graduation. Carter's wonderful teacher read a story (Curious You, with Curious George) to the class and gave a copy to each child. They also received a certificate and a packet full of some of the best artwork that they had created throughout the school year. Bryson sat so patiently through the ceremony and worked so hard at being a "big pre-k kid", but he burst into tears at the end when he didn't get anything from the teacher. :-( He didn't understand that it was only for the kids in Carter's class. Fortunately, he quickly forgot and everything was better when the cookies and juice were passed out! :-) We are so proud of Carter!!! He has grown and learned so much this year. This school year has been an answer to prayer for us, and we are praying for continued blessings in their future teachers, classmates, and school experiences.
