We Survived!!!

Today was Carter's first day at Mother's Day Out. It's similar to school, but for younger children. I enrolled him in the program to make his transition to Pre-K next year a little easier for all of us. It's a little sad for me because I feel that this is the beginning of having to let him go. I know there's no turning back the clock and having him home with me every day anymore.

He has never liked the word "school" so we don't call it that. I told him that he would make lots of friends and that he would get to play outside and do arts & crafts. He was excited this morning and didn't complain at all about having to go. He went right in and got busy playing with a giant crane that was in his classroom. He was almost too busy to kiss me good-bye. Bryson was mad that he couldn't stay, too.

When I picked him up, he told me all about his day. He learned about the letter Aa, and he practiced writing it. "Apple starts with A" he told me, and he made an apple puppet to take home. He also learned about Jesus helping the blind man see, and his own eyes and sense of sight. He played outside, made friends, and ate all of the special lunch I had packed for him.

Today was a good day, but I'm glad it's over! I'm happy to have him home again, at least until next week!
